Bosnia fears Croatia will close border, expects thousands of refugees

The refugee wave that has flooded Europe will certainly spill over to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) when Croatia closes its border for their transit, Izet Nizam of the Bosnian Security Ministry was quoted as saying in Thursday’s Dnevni Avaz daily.

He said Croatia would have no other option after its accommodation facilities were full and that this could happen after 3,000 migrants arrived in Croatia. “Now when all the borders are being closed, all those with nowhere to go will head to BiH. Personally, I’m not counting on less than 10,000 and the number will certainly be much higher.”
BiH authorities currently have two and a half empty settlements that served for the accommodation of displaced persons, where 1,000 persons can be placed, and are looking for abandoned military facilities that can be used.
