The coalition led by the strongest opposition Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party does not see the coalition headed by the ruling Social Democratic Party (SDP) as a threat, HDZ leader Tomislav Karamarko said on Tuesday.
“What threat?! Whatever coalition they form, it will be defeated,” Karamarko said in the parliament building in response to questions from the press.
The SDP is due to sign a coalition agreement on Tuesday with the Croatian People’s Party (HNS), the Pensioners’ Party (HSU), the Autochthonous Peasant Party (A-HSS), the Labour Party and the Zagorje Party. The Istrian Democratic Party (IDS) is not part of the coalition for now.
“I’m glad they are organising themselves because that means that elections will be held soon and parliament will indeed be dissolved,” Karamarko said, adding that the only thing he wanted to know was the date of dissolution of parliament and the date of elections.
