Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic on Sunday visited Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China where she held talks with Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying about possibilities of promoting cooperation, the Office of the Croatian President said in a statement.
Grabar-Kitarovic briefed the Hong Kong chief executive of her talks with top Chinese officials during which it was said that there was a lot of room for better economic relations.
The talks also focused on possibilities of advancing cooperation, notably maritime cooperation and maritime transport and logistics between Hong Kong and Croatian ports. In that context, Grabar-Kitarovic said Croatia could be China’s gateway to Europe, notably considering the Adtiatic-Baltic-Black Sea initiative which is complementary with Chinese initiative “China+16”.
In light of the opening of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce office in Shanghai, the chief executive pointed to the possibilities of cooperation with numerous chambers of commerce in Hong Kong.
In Hong Kong, Grabar-Kitarovic wrapped up her official five-day visit to China during which she also toured Beijing and Shanghai.
