Croatia’s president Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic on Thursday talked on the phone with her Slovenian counterpart Borut Pahor about the migrant crisis affecting both countries, and the two presidents agreed that it was necessary to improve bilateral cooperation to that effect in the spirit of good-neighbourly relations, according to a source from the Office of the Croatian President.

Grabar-Kitarovic and Pahor agreed that the extent and gravity of the migrant crisis require a comprehensive approach and a common long-term policy of the European Union, the source told Hina.

Earlier on Thursday, Pahor met with European Council President Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels to discuss the migrant crisis.

He informed the EU officials of Slovenia’s estimates that it was turning into a bottleneck for migrants proceeding along the Balkan route towards northern and western Europe.
