A motion to post bail submitted by former prime minister and former president of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) Ivo Sanader has been turned down, the Serious Fraud Office (USKOK) reported on Tuesday.
Sanader’s defence can now appeal the decision at the Supreme Court or propose a new bail. They are expected to address the press later today.
The hearing at which the court decided to reject Sanader’s bail proposal was closed to the public and lasted about an hour and 15 min.
Last Thursday the Supreme Court quashed the verdict against Sanader in the Fimi Media case ordered and retrial and set bail at 12.4 million kuna.
On Friday, Sanader’s defence team said they would propose two properties as bail after the Supreme Court quashed the ruling against Sanader and extended investigative custody with the option of bail of HRK 12.4 million. (Hina)
