Frankfurt Book Fair expects 300,000 visitors

Frankfurt (dpa) – The world’s biggest book fair opened its doors in Frankfurt on Wednesday with organizers expecting up to 300,000 people to visit the five-day event.

Organizers at the Frankfurt Book Fair said more than 7,000 exhibitors from about 100 countries have set up shop at the event, which has a history dating back more than 500 years.

Literature from Indonesia takes centre stage at this year’s book fair under the motto “17,000 islands of imagination.”

Wednesday through Friday has been set aside for book trade visitors to the fair, with the event opening its doors to the public on Saturday and Sunday.
