Six Croatian soccer fans arrested in Malta

Six Croatians were reportedly arrested in Malta after a brawl with bodyguards in a night club in Malta, a senior official in the Croatian Police Directorate said on Tuesday.

The Croatians arrived there ahead of a Malta-Croatia Euro 2016 qualifier set for Tuesday evening.

According to some media outlets, a fight erupted last night between Croatian fans and the night club’s security staff, most of whom are Serb nationals. Some participants in the fight reportedly sustained injuries.

The Croatian Football Federation (HNS) has requested the match host to ban the entry of Croatian fans into the stadium.

Croatia are third in the section and must beat Malta and hope Norway do not beat Italy to finish second and qualify automatically for the tournament in France next year. (Hina)
