Slovenian PM fears EU may fall apart if refugee crisis continues

Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar said before the start of an EU-Balkan summit on the migrant crisis that the European Union warned that the EU would “start falling apart” if a concrete and immediate action plan wasn’t prepared.

Upon arriving in Burssells for the summit on Sunday afternoon Cerar warned that in the absence of such a plan, “the EU will start falling apart”.

According to Slovenian media outlets, Cerar is to hold a bilateral meeting with his Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic in Brussles.

Slovenia seems to agree with segments of the draft plan prepared by European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker that envisage that no migrants could be transported towards borders of neighbouring countries if they do not agree on the issue.

Slovenia, however, seems disinclined toward the proposal for engaging Frontex guards along its frontier with Croatia, suggesting that they should actually be deployed at the EU external borders, which means, for instance, at the Croatia-Serbia border or the Greece-Turkey border, according to the local media.
