Two pedestrians attacked with meat cleaver in Hong Kong

A man wielding two meat cleavers attacked a man and a woman near a police station in Hong Kong on Monday, a media report said.

The attack happened around 7:45 am (2345 GMT Sunday) a block from the Sheung Wan police station on Hong Kong island, the South China Morning Post reported.

Hong Kong is known as one of the safest cities in the world and violent attacks are rare.

The woman had injuries to her waist and shoulder and was taken to hospital, while the man only suffered minor injuries to his hand and did not need to be hospitalised.

The assailant and a policeman were also injured as police attempted to subdue him.
