Social Democratic Party (SDP) leader Zoran Milanovic on Friday publicly called on the Bridge reformist coalition to support his Croatia Is Growing coalition in forming a new government and offered Bridge leader Bozo Petrov to be Parliament Speaker.
Addressing a news conference in the SDP offices, Milanovic said that the SDP did not see itself in a joint government with the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ). “Unity is praiseworthy. With Bridge it is possible, but with the HDZ it isn’t,” said the SDP chief.
He added that he was confident about 66 signatures of support of elected MPs for his coalition.
As for the ongoing negotiations on the formation of the new government, Milanovic said that he did not think there would be constructive talks next week because focus would be on the founding of the parliament, set for December 3.
