Croatian President, EC Vice-President meet


Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic on Thursday received the European Commission Vice President and Commissioner for the Euro and Social Dialogue, Valdis Dombrovskis, who was on a two-day working visit to Croatia within the European Semester, for talks on business, economic, fiscal and social indicators in Croatia, according to a press release issued by the Office of Croatian head of state.

The two officials pointed out the importance of the implementation of comprehensive structural reforms in Croatia with the aim of removing macroeconomic imbalances.

The commissioner was quoted as saying that he was dissatisfied with the rate of absorption of EU funds in Croatia which is currently at 50%.

Grabar-Kitarovic expressed concern over a high jobless rate in the country and over the a large-scale departure of young skilful Croatians from their country in search of jobs abroad.
