A total of 7,413 employers that have 25,845 workers on their payrolls, failed to pay salaries to their employees, according to updated statistics released by the Croatian Tax Administration on Monday.

The statistics were derived from the so-called JOPPD forms handed to the Administration for the January-December 2015 period, and they show that 6,164 legal entities with 22,198 employees failed to pay salaries and 1,249 physical persons with 3,656 workers.

Wage defaulters are those who fail to pay salaries for at least three months in a row.

The updated figures covered the period from July to December 2015, the Tax Administration reported on its web site.
