Mayor Milan Bandić is the first visitor to the Zoo to enter the new east entrance decorated within the first phase of modernization of the Vrta. The project worth 37.853.343,04 kn is co-financed from the Structural Funds funds of the European Union in the amount of 95%.

Having opened a new entrance together with the children from the Eko Eko group from Primary School Dobriša Cesarić, the mayor emphasized that this is a new recognizable view of the Zoological Garden, Maksimir Park and the City of Zagreb.

Director of Zoo Davorka Maljković pointed out that the opening of the eastern entrance is essential for further successful implementation of the Zoological Gardens modernization project in Zagreb, where the end of the works is expected by the end of next year. The director said that due to the modernization of the western part of the garden, until the end of the works, the entrance from Maksimir Park will be closed. After 33 years, next month, will begin selling animal photo tickets, as they had been in 1972 years, the director added.

After the opening of the new entrance, Mayor Bandic went to work in the western part of Vrti and said they are advancing according to the plans and how Zagreb and Zagreb as well as domestic and foreign guests can enjoy new attractions and animals in the spring of 2016. The City of Zagreb will continue to support further modernization projects of this Vrta, which is the pride of our beautiful city, continued Mayor Bandic.

Apart from the new attractive contents in terms of tourism and educational infrastructure with the application of new technologies, value added also represents the restoration of the culture of heritage within the zoo.
