The president of the Republic of Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović will begin consultations on giving the mandate for the drafting of the Government after the State Election Commission (DIP) receives the official results of the elections for the eighth session of the Parliament, due to the repetition of elections at seven polling stations not possible before the next week.

"The President of the Republic will start the constitutionally-prescribed process of consultations after the SEC receives the official results of the parliamentary elections," spokeswoman for the office of President Luka Đurić said on Monday.

He reminded him of the statement by Grabar-Kitarović calling on all those elected to the Croatian Parliament to demonstrate political responsibility, leaving behind any divisions, heavy and ugly words that fell during the campaign, focusing on national interests, interests citizens and expressed the will of the voters.
According to the Constitution, the President of the Republic entrusts the mandate for the composition of the Government to a person who, on the basis of the distribution of the seats in the Croatian Parliament and the consultations, enjoys the confidence of most of all the MPs.
On the repetition of the elections at seven polling stations, DIP President Branko Hrvatin announced on Monday at a press conference, saying that there was an excess of ballots on them.
It is about small polling stations, Hrvatin said, so the results can be established already on Sunday night, after which the SEC will publish complete and final results. (Hina)
