Macedonia has completed the construction of a fence at the border crossing of Gevgelija to Greece to prevent the illegal entry of refugees and migrants by agencies.

According to Tanjug agency, members of the Macedonian Army built a two and a half-meter high metal barrier three kilometers long. The fence has just been erected at the border crossing of Gevgelija only, but Macedonian officials do not rule out the possibility that the fence will be built at other locations on the border to Greece.

A spokesman for the Macedonian government earlier said that the fence was built to prevent refugees and migrants from reaching a legal border crossing and unnoticed entering the Macedonian territory.
