Police in Reggio Calabria, south of Italy, announced on Wednesday that they seized a total of 344 kilograms of pure cocaine on a two-time basis estimated at around 70 million euros.
The drug was seized during the weekend at the large industrial port of Gioia Tauro, in Calabria, one of the main entrances to Italy for various smuggling goods, according to a police statement.
The first cargo of 55 kilogram was in a container from Brazil, destined for Slovenia, with a declaration of aluminum transport.
Another cargo, much larger than 289 pounds, was also in a container from Brazil with a destination in Trieste, northeast of Italy. He carried a declaration of coffee transportation.
By the Italian police about 932 pounds of cocaine has been seized since the beginning of the year at that port.
