Italian police announced on Monday that near Naples discovered a large amount of counterfeit 10 euro banknotes created under new security features with the aim of preventing counterfeiting of the common European currency.

"This is the first seized counterfeit of a new banknote series in Europe," the Guardia di Finanza financial statement said in a statement. Naples is known as the center of counterfeiting.

The Guardia di Finanza has announced that it has arrested a 39-year-old man on Sunday after escalating to the northeastern suburb Casoria. The man was hit by a car in a police vehicle that was blocked by the passage and the police found more than a hundred thousand dollars worth of fake banknotes.

"Preliminary checks on bank notes show that they are of excellent quality and can easily deceive anyone who receives them," the police said in a statement.
