Greece on Wednesday began to take over hundreds of economic migrants who have been on the Greek-Macedonian border for weeks, blocking rail traffic, and which Macedonia does not let across its border.

Around the 1200 people, mostly from Pakistan, Morocco and Iran, remained in front of the border once the Balkan refugee routes began to filter out the refugees and only release those in the war zones.

The police said they would be taken off by Athens buses and placed in refugee centers before returning to their country.

Over the past two weeks there have been clashes between police and migrants at the border. Macedonia has raised the fence to prevent their illegal entry into the country.
