The Mayor of the City of Milan Milan Bandic, with his associates, met today in the Dvercė Palace with the Representation of the State Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, led by the President of Nj.E. Milan Brglez.
The meeting focused on the important role of cities in strengthening relations between countries and regions and on the possibilities of strengthening cooperation between the main cities of Croatia and Slovenia, particularly in the field of culture. They also talked about the excellent connections and partnerships of the City of Zagreb with national minorities, as well as with the Slovenian national minority, about which the guests have heard before, and now convinced themselves. According to the latest population census from 2011. in Zagreb live 2.223 members of the Slovenian national minority while the Slovenian National Minorities Council represents 2.132 members.
This kind of friendship pledge for better tomorrow, President Brglez emphasized.
Zagreb is, it is accentuated, a great example of a European metropolis in which there is tolerance, multiculturalism, multiethnicity and multiconfessionalism.
Mayor Bandic emphasized that the relations between the two cities at the highest level and so friendly connections have been tied since February 2001. when a Cooperation Agreement was signed, which is aimed at strengthening friendship and cooperation in the fields of local and general administration, health and social welfare, public services, environmental protection, communal services and transport, culture, education, sport, science and research, information technology and the introduction of electronic business, tourism, youth issues, international relations and other areas of interest for both cities.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the Republic of Croatia HEE. Smiljana Knez, MPs Dragan Matić and Matej Tonin, Head of the Cabinet of President DZ Katarina Ratoša, Minister Advisor Marko Rakovac and President of the Slovenian National Minority Council of the City of Zagreb Darko Šonc.
Along with the Mayor of Milan Bandic with associates in the company with the Croatian Ambassador to the Republic of Slovenia HEE. Vesna Terzić, the meeting was attended by representatives of the City Assembly: President Darinko Kosor, Vice President Jelena Pavičić Vukičević and Vesna Sudar, Vice President Andrija Mikulić and Secretary Mirjana Lichtner Kristić.
