On Friday, 27. January at the Oris House of Architecture in Zagreb opens an interactive exhibition Iannis Xenakis & UPIC. It's a traveling exhibition on loan from the Iannis Xenakis Center from Rouen.
The exhibition is a machine for the development of a musical composition through a drawing entitled UPIC, which was created by composer and architect Iannis Xenakis at the beginning of 1950. The exhibition presents the history of the UPIC as a result of the research work on the Iannis Xenakis Ianis archive documents: posters, posters, photographs, video material on UPIC workshops with children and blind people and the main stage of development of this visual-acoustic tool located in the general context of development experimental and electronic music.
In addition to visual notes, visitors have the opportunity to listen to works created using the UPIC. On the day of the opening of the exhibition, members of the Cantus Ensemble will perform the musical points of Iannis Xenakis. The emphasis was put on the work of Mycenae Alpha, the first composition created on the UPIC.
