Caritas of the Archdiocese of Zagreb started the distribution of material assistance to the most deprived persons from Karlovac, Zagreb and Krapina-Zagorje County within the project "Caritas-aid packages for the most endangered" worth more than 7 million, funded by the European Union funds from the European Fund for the Most Benefits ).

The first 1 000 aid packages under this project were split on Saturday 4. February at the 7 site in the Zagreb County (Ivanić Grad, Donja Zelina, Domaslovec, Zaprešić, Jastrebarsko, Dugo Selo, Velika Gorica).

In the period of 7. to 11. February will receive the first aid packages in the Krapina-Zagorje County and will be organized on the 10 location (Zlatar Bistrica, Krapina, Pregrada, Zabok, Donja Stubica, Oroslavje, Bedekovčina, Sveti Križ Začretje, Gornja Stubica and Klanjec) after which is planned to allocate assistance to those in need in the Karlovac County.

The 'Caritas aid packages for the most endangered' project is being implemented in cooperation with social welfare centers and parish caritas. The total number of planned holders of rights / recipients of assistance by counties is as follows: County of Karlovac - 2 000 rights holders, County of Krapina-Zagorje - 1 000 and County of Zagreb - 1 000 (note: the holder of the right denotes a person who, in accordance with the established criteria, to whom an aid package is issued may be a single member or a family member).

Volunteers of Parish Caritas will be part of the package of assistance, while the old, sick and helpless persons will be delivered to the home address of the delivery van by a vehicle that has been purchased with the approved funds within the project.

In addition to helping with food, users will also get help with hygiene products and some of them and help with school supplies and equipment.

- We wanted to cover the needs of people living outside the City of Zagreb who live in poverty and have not been covered by this form of assistance until now. In addition, through the organization of distribution centers, by establishing and harmonizing the criteria for receiving assistance, and by strengthening the existing human resources of the Caritas of Zagreb Archdiocese and Parish Caritas, we want to provide preconditions for the continuation of these activities and after the completion of the project - says Project Manager Elza Parlov.
